Hello! I'm Tannie
I am an expressive figurative artist recently transplanted to Montana. I love telling subtle stories of faith and strength. I find that there is a lot of beauty found in the quiet, between moments. My hope is to capture those moments in a way that resonants with you.

My Process
-
Exploration
Every piece begins with an idea. I will often hear a phrase or read something that sparks a small seed of inspiration. I write that phrase or quote down and do some research around that idea. My goal is to express a specific emotion or spiritual connection around that idea. I then sketch several thumbnails in order to find a composition that tells the strongest story. ➔
-
Sketching
Now that I have a strong composition, I create the full-size sketch digitally. I draw into Photoshop or Procreate, using a Cintiq or iPad Pro, just like I would on a piece of paper. I like to work this way as it allows me to work very large on a smaller screen.
Because of the complicated nature of my art this step saves me a lot of time up front. ➔ -
Implementation
Now that I have a life size sketch, I print it out to make a large template. I use this template to trace the sketch onto the support I will be using. A support is a canvas or wood panel that you create the art on.
Once the sketch is transferred, I get to work! The intricate pen work takes the bulk of my time for the entire piece. ➔ -
Finishing Touches
Now that the work is complete I add the finishing touches, like gold leaf or other gloss or matte finishes. When those finishes are complete, I sign and seal the painting so it will stand the test of time. It dries for a few days before I move on to framing and promotional photography. Once the photography is complete it's time to release the work to you!

I absolutely fell in love with Tannie's Kimono piece. Not only do I have the beautiful original, but I also have all of the individual images found hiding within the Kimono itself. Literally my favorite works of art in my home!

A few minutes ago I opened up a VERY, VERY special gift that I had no idea about! Wow!!! The original of Armor! I cried. I was shocked! I was touched. And most especially, that piece speaks to me. It would likely BE me if she had my hair! I am so honored to have that in my home and cannot wait to work on a frame for it and find a place to put it. Wow. Just sooo happy!
