Dealing with deep emotion is hard and often rather painful. So we look for ways to avoid it all together. We suit up and act "strong.” Armor is a representation of the idea "If only I can be strong enough." We then try to pretend the pain isn’t really there. It's the "I am fine,” when the reality is it's leaking out from the cracks and begging to be dealt with.
