Inspired by one of my favorite chapters in the Book of Mormon, Seeds captures the essence of Alma's teachings on faith. In this beautiful analogy, faith is likened to a growing seed, and this piece seeks to represent that sacred process. What speaks to me most in this passage is not just the seed of faith but the moment before faith – the desire to believe. Even when belief feels overwhelming, Alma encourages that the desire to believe is enough to begin the journey.
In this artwork, the seedling stretches upwards, supported by an intricate network of roots. Yet, as your eyes follow these roots, you will notice a smaller golden seed – the True Seed. This represents the "desire to believe" – the faith behind the faith. It's a visual reminder that before we cultivate deep belief in ourselves, God, or our goals, we must first plant the smallest of seeds: the hope to hope, the faith to have faith, the desire to believe. It is from this initial spark that true faith grows.
