Shared
Shared is one of the first ideas I sketched out when this project first came to mind. The initial intention was showing a muslim and non-muslim women perfectly reflecting each other. I chose those representations to show as wide a difference as I could in two women, yet despite background or belief, still very connected and similar. The shape of the non-muslim woman’s hair was initially intended to reflect the shape of the hijab. I wanted to show that universal connection shared across all women. However during the creation of this piece, the historic events in Iran happened. It felt more appropriate to chop off the other woman’s hair in solidarity.
